Important Considerations for the GENOME v1.6.1 HotFix
Please Read The Following Carefully Prior to Updating GENOME to v1.6.1
The GENOME v1.6.1 HotFix is aimed at restoring compatibility for existing Logic Pro and Garageband projects created with previous versions of GENOME only. Users should not update to this version if using Digital Audio Workstations other than Logic Pro or Garageband. With the addition of MIDI Functionality, GENOME 1.6.0 underwent an Audio Unit (AU) Effect Type change, altering compatibility with previously created projects on Logic Pro and Garageband. In order to restore compatibility with previously created projects, the following update features two versions of GENOME in AU format, named as follows:
Some important considerations to bear in mind:
- Within these two variants, there is no feature-based difference besides MIDI support
- MIDI menus and panels are visible (and update) in both variants
- RIGs and FX Presets are compatible and shared between both variants seamlessly
- Existing Logic Pro and Garageband projects featuring previous variants of GENOME will automatically load the “GENOME (No MIDI)” variant with all settings restored
- VST3, AAX and Standalone variants are also included in this installer, they are identical to those included in the GENOME v1.6.0 installer.

How to use GENOME with MIDI in Logic Pro X
- Launch Logic Pro and instantiate a new "Software Instrument" track. From the AU MIDI-controlled Effects section, select GENOME as the instrument for the track
- Open GENOME’s interface and configure a sidechain input to receive audio. Double-check that your instrument is properly connected to the input channel on your audio interface
- To capture the audio signal, set up an audio track and route its output to a Bus. Next, go back to your plugin’s sidechain settings and choose that Bus as the input source. This allows the plugin to process the signal coming from your audio track
- Use the MIDI Learn feature in the plugin interface to assign and map MIDI controls in accordance with your preferred desired workflow
How to use GENOME with MIDI in Garageband
Garageband does not support MIDI for MIDI-Controlled Effects.
Impact for other DAWs supporting Audio Units
We do not recommend using this version if you don’t use Logic Pro or GarageBand. In the event you install GENOME v1.6.1, it will work properly with other DAWs supporting the AU plugin format. However, GENOME will appear twice in the AU folder (as “GENOME” and “GENOME (No MIDI)”). In this situation, we encourage users to work with the “GENOME” variant as there are no MIDI compatibility issues on any other mainstream Digital Audio Workstations besides Garageband and Logic Pro.
