Setting up your MIDI hardware with Two notes GENOME standalone

Setting up your MIDI hardware with GENOME standalone

As of v1.6 GENOME provides comprehensive MIDI mapping facilities with support for both Program Change (PC) and Control Change (CC) messages.

As a starting point, connect your MIDI hardware’s MIDI output to a compatible Audio Interface’s (or MIDI Interface’s) MIDI input. If your hardware is a USB controller, connect the related USB output on your MIDI device to your computer.

  1. Only for GENOME’s Standalone Application: in GENOME’s Hamburger Menu, click “MIDI Devices” to set the desired MIDI Inputs in relation to the hardware.

  1. Only for GENOME’s Plugin Application: When using GENOME as a plugin, use the DAW’s MIDI setup menu to set the MIDI input in relation to the MIDI controller.
  2. Once the hardware is configured, whenever you move a knob or click a button on the MIDI controller, the MIDI button at the top right hand corner will light up green, highlighting it is registering incoming MIDI messages. If GENOME does not register any incoming MIDI messages, check the configuration in the MIDI Devices menu again
Please note, by default PC messages are automatically assigned to RIGs (0-127) from the instantiated bank; CC messages on the other hand are intended for manual assignment by the user across any assignable architectural- or Component-level parameter.

Note: Although PC messages are supported by VST3 specifications, at this juncture they are not correctly implemented by many DAWs (including Reaper, Ableton Live & Studio One). As such, for users wishing to switch RIGs via PC commands in GENOME’s plugin variants, AU or AAX variants are recommended.
