Mitigating Delay/Latency Issues With GENOME’s Standalone Application
Are you experiencing a delay/lag when playing your instrument through GENOME’s Standalone Application? Your issue could be linked to the latency settings of your audio interface.
Follow the steps below to solve your latency issue:
- Click on GENOME’s Hamburger Menu and navigate to the Audio Settings menu
- For Windows Users Only, In the “Audio Device Type” dropdown, select ASIO (if available/applicable)
- Next, configure the Standalone Application’s Sample rate using the “Sample Rate” dropdown menu and set your system latency using the “Audio Buffer Size” dropdown menu
Some Top Tips on Latency Settings
Latency is dependent on the buffer size and the sample rate you have set for your audio interface in GENOME’s Standalone Application. Dividing the buffer size by the sample rate gives the latency in seconds.
- For a fixed sample rate, the higher the buffer size the greater the latency.
- For a fixed buffer size, the lower the sample the greater the latency.
- When set above 10ms, latency is heard when playing.
- When set between 5 to 10ms, latency is felt while playing.
- When configured under 5ms, latency is barely noticeable.
Please note, a latency setting set too low can lead to noise (clicks and pops) while playing your instrument through GENOME. If such artifacts or latency issues present themselves, lower your sample rate settings and/or increase your buffer size accordingly.
