Torpedo Reload II | Output Power
Reload II’s continuous attenuation is achieved by pairing the reactive load box with a transparent solid state power amplifier.
The built-in power amplifier is able to deliver the following (maximum) power in regards to the impedance of the connected cabinet:
- If only one speaker output is used (CAB OUT):
- 1 x 215W RMS @ 4Ω
- 1 x 120W RMS @ 8Ω
- 1 x 50W RMS @ 16Ω
- If both speaker outputs are used (CAB OUT A&B):
- 2 x 215W RMS @ 4Ω
- 2 x 120W RMS @ 8Ω
- 2 x 50W RMS @ 16Ω
In addition, there are some important considerations to bear in mind in relation to Torpedo Reload II’s Power Output:
- If connecting a 100W amp to Reload II, in conjunction with a 16Ω cabinet connected to one CAB OUT, expect 3dB of attenuation to the signal when Reload II’s built-in poweramp is pushed to its maximum; such is due to the technical specification of Poweramplifier integrated into Reload II’s architecture.
- When using a 1x12 cabinet connected to one of Reload II’s CAB Outputs, please check the impedance and power rating of the related speaker. Some 8 Ohms speakers (i.e. a Celestion® Blue rated for 15W) feature low power ratings (25W and under). Subsequently, running 120W into a low-wattage speaker can lead to unwanted distortion or irreversible damage to the speaker.
- Vintage 4x10 Fender® amps from the 1960s (i.e. Blackface and Silverface Super Reverb® amplifiers) require a 2Ω load due to the wiring of the internal speakers. As such, when pairing the amp’s cabinet/speakers with Reload II’s CAB OUT, please thoroughly check the enclosure’s rated impedance, or in the case of a combo, the resultant impedance from the wiring of the internal speakers.
