Why do all impedance LEDs light up on Reload II

Torpedo Reload II | Impedance LEDs Lighting up Simultaneously

In some cases, you may notice all impedance LEDs on the front panel of Reload II lighting up in sync with your playing. This is an expected behaviour and not a hardware issue.

Reload II does not analyze or interpret signal content — The LEDs simply reflect certain electrical conditions at the input. When the signal feeding Reload II contains large amounts of high-frequency energy—common in heavily distorted tones—the additional harmonic content can momentarily cause all impedance LEDs to illuminate. The LEDs that do not correspond to the selected impedance may only glow very faintly.

Examples of signal conditions that can cause this behavior

  • Using the amp’s distortion channel with TREBLE set very high and PRESENCE boosted
  • Running a fuzz pedal into the amp’s bright channel, which emphasizes upper harmonics

This behavior is purely related to the electrical nature of high-frequency, high-harmonic signals and does not affect performance or indicate any fault.
